MIMOSA
book & lyrics by Lauren Taslitz
music by Danny Ursetti
Every Mimosa pudica plant can fold up its leaves and fall over when threatened, but Mimosa has a special gift. She can dance! The problem is, whenever she does, she gets scolded by Mom. What if she’s seen by a human? Every sensible plant knows you can’t trust a human! And sure enough, along comes lonely human teenager, Molly, who catches a glimpse of Mimosa dancing. Molly’s so enchanted by Mimosa that, despite her Dad’s “No Plants!” rule, she digs her up and takes her home. As their friendship buds, Mimosa learns something that could save both their imperiled communities - if only she could figure out how to get Molly to hear her speak!
Mimosa is a family-friendly story of a plant and human who, by rejecting a legacy of despair and reminding us that all flourishing is mutual, show us the way to restoring our imperiled world.
